Jobs and Opps at ITV, The Economist, The British Beer and Pub Association and Many More 🍻
Plus, a special offer on the magazine for this week only 🏷
I mentioned this last week, but it’s my birthday tomorrow! I’m the kind of person who jumps at any kind of chance to celebrate anything, especially if includes some kind of ritual or decorations. Birthdays exist to be filled with cake. Bonfire Night isn’t a success unless it involves sparklers. And yes, I have already bought an advent calendar.
Even more so than before though, I’ve been counting down to my birthday this year. The last time I took some proper time off was back in July and the cracks are beginning to bust open. So, I’m taking a few days off, and I’m very excited. Even more so, because everything we’re doing is a surprise. My partner has done all the planning and logistics, all I have to do is turn up. Though as of yet, I don’t know what it is I’m turning up to.
Often, I find the organising of stuff even more stressful than the actual doing of it. At a birthday pub trip this weekend, I am not ashamed to say I booked the venue entirely based on where I could book via an online form rather than having to interact with a human. The admin that comes with just existing truly doesn’t take into account a five-day working week. Quite frankly, the system is in need of a shake-up.
But while we’re waiting for the four-day week revolution, my own revolution is taking the easy option where I can. Online bookings? Yes. Not making the bed? Yes. Who the heck has time for that? Pairing socks? I don’t think so. Whatever you’re up to this week, I urge you to cut yourself some slack and treat yourself to the easy option.
PS. On one final birthday-related note — I’m running a special offer from now until the end of the week for magazine orders. Order your copy of our magazine now and you’ll also get a bonus free copy of another independent magazine when it ships — some are new, some are preloved, but they’re all excellent reads. Freebies last until the end of the week or when I run out!
PPS. We also wanted to give a shoutout to our friends at Freelancing For Journalists this week, who are offering 50 percent off their super useful freelance guides until tomorrow. This means they’re only £2.50 each, which is a bargain. This isn’t an ad btw, we just think it’s a bargain.
