A very short message from me this week, as I’m in the midst of moving house. It’s now day five, and I’m very much in the zombie state of the move. So far, we’ve moved six car loads, had to clean an incredibly mouldy living room wall, and ordered way more many takeaways than is healthy. In a perfect world, I’d have taken the week off, but no force of nature is able to predict the whims of estate agents, so our move is now the same week as multiple events. So, rather than attempt to say something meaningful in my sleepless state, here are some of the events you can join us at:

🗣 How To Interview Vulnerable Case Studies
At some point, we’ll all end up having to interview someone who has undergone a traumatic experience. This practical workshop with the award-winning Natasha Preskey looks at how to do it ethically and get the story you need. We’ll cover interview techniques, readbacks, and managing expectations.
🏡 This is a really nice gig from Karfu, a new start-up around mobility. They are looking for a content writer who will basically run the show and have the scope to develop into editing. Pays £22,568pa and is remote working.
Newsquest are hiring again, this time for a multimedia reporter working in Salisbury. Pays £20-23,000pa.
We love a good regional job here, and this one looks like a good one. SuffolkNews.co.uk are looking for a digital reporter and you’ll be working on engaging, original online stories. Pays £17-24,000pa.
🏡 Business of Apps are looking for a B2B Content Marketing Exec who will edit articles and work on social media posts. Pays £23-29,000pa.
Moonbug is a really cool name and apparently they work with a lot of YouTube channels. They’re looking for an intern and it pays £20,000pa.
🏡 You still have a little while to apply for this, but we just wanted to remind you that we’re hiring via the Kickstart scheme. We pay the real living wage and you’ll focus on original reporting – as it’s funded by the DWP, you have to be receiving Universal Credit and aged 18-24.
🚨 🏡 Talking of Kickstart schemes, the I Like Networking gig as a Content Producer and Manager closes in two days, so get your application in fast! Pays National Minimum Wage.
Machine Mart have a super jazzy storefront for a tools place! They’re looking for a website copywriter and are paying up to £23,000pa.
🚨 Last chance for this role with Broadcast Intelligence as a content researcher. You’ll cover all things TV, advertising and film and will be paid about £23,000pa.
Channel4’s Production Trainee Scheme is back open again, and they’re offering placements across the country with various programmes. Pays about £24,000pa depending on where you’re based.
Finally, there’s a content assistant role going at Yoto, working in the children’s media sector. It pays £25-27,000pa.

The Scouts are looking for a creative content producer to focus on writing and editing content. There are a couple of flexible working options and it pays £29,948pa.
LexisNexis are looking for an employment law editor who will work on their original guides and keep content up to date. It pays a nice £40,000pa.
Newsquest, off of regional news, are looking for editors across the UK to join the team. You’ll be paid £45-55,000pa and it’s a great chance to step up and lead a team.
Loads of investigative roles seem to be knocking about at the mo. Next up and paying £30-40,000pa is this one with the IET, to work on their magazine E&T, which goes out to professional engineers.
🚨 Last orders for the multimedia journalist role at Premier. It’s a full-time gig for someone who wants to tell stories across online and radio and it pays £25-27,000pa.
Jackson’s Art Supplies are looking for a blog editor to join their growing editorial team. It looks like a wide ranging platform and they’re paying up to £27,300pa.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (who thankfully have an initialism of ICAEW) are looking for a journalist to write content. It pays a pretty decent salary of £45,000pa.
From our friends at MediaBeans - the BBC TopGear.com team are looking for a web producer to manage editorial for the site. It’s Band B, which means it’s between £22,500 and £37,000. Yep, we know, wild range.
The BBC are also currently looking for a Gaelic News and Current Affairs Editor and a sports editor in Glasgow. Both are Band C so £25-49,000pa.
Finally, if you’re into video, the Alzheimer’s Society are looking for a video content executive who will create videos. Pays up to £28,181pa.
One from our friends at The Leicester Citizen. They’re looking for features, investigations, personal essays and everything in-between. Pays £90 a piece.
🏡 We advertised this one before, and apparently they thought you were all great. So, here is your chance to go again! JUST:Access are looking for freelance editors for their transcription service. Pays £11ph.
A re-upping of Stylist’s guide for freelancers here. They’re particularly looking for pitches around Diwali at the moment.

🚨 It’s your last call to join the freelance talent pool at The Citizens. They’re offering £130-240 per depending on what you’re applying for and they have a role for basically everything.
🏡🚨 You need to move fast here. The Women in Journalism Internship for 2021/22 is only open until Friday. You’ll be paid £200 a month for three hours of work a week running their Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook group.
Okay, so I thought this was a joke or the wrong industry. But no, you really can be paid £300-345 a day as a temporary reporter for an energy company who want someone to help run their newsletter until the end of the year.
Our friends at Lacuna Voices are looking to commission stories in the run up to Christmas. They all need to be exclusive, true life and in the first person. Pays £100.
A couple of other shift ones here: this one is a copywriter gig for £350 a day, a content writer one for £400 a day, and a content editor job looking at clothing and home for £200-250 a day.

Cultureshock are looking for a freelance web producer to work with them on arts and culture stuff. Pays £120 a day. There are also freelance sub-editor roles going at LADbible group too.
The Drift, who focus on culture and politics, are looking for pitches for their next issue. They pay $300-500 dollars a piece.
Amwaj Media are looking for a freelance English editor ASAP. You’ll need knowledge of Iran, Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula.
Spotted by one of our readers Laura, this looks like a great opp. The National Parks: New Perspectives Bursaries offer up to £1,000 and mentoring to tell new, factual stories about national parks in England and Wales. You must be 19-35.
🎪 It’s still not too late to get tickets to our climate change reporting event next week with Kira Taylor. It’s going to be a really practical run through of how to report on the climate, whatever your beat.
The European Journalism Centre have opened up a new call for their Global Health Security Fund. Freelancers, or teams of freelancers/staff journalists who cover the beat can get up to $7,500 per project.
An interesting one here if you run an organisation – the Earth Investigations Programme is offering a pot of €85,000 for people who can run activities to support environmental investigations.
The Sony World Photography Awards are now open and they are free to enter across the board. There’s a pro competition, as well as youth and student categories. Prizes of up to $25,000.
The Oxford Climate Journalism Network launched this week (or maybe last, I’ve lost track of time a bit). You can apply now to join the network and get free tools and support for your climate coverage.
Unbound, the crowdfunded book people, have launched a new imprint, Unbound Firsts for debut writers of colours. They’ll publish two books a year and it includes an advance of £1,000.
Okay, long lead on this one, but early bird and worms and all that. The Amnesty Media Awards are now open for 2022 and entries closes on January 20, next year. There are bursary places and the student one is free.

So, this is also a slightly offbeat one (found via our friends at Journalism.co.uk). Do you manage your organisations photos, videos, graphics, or other media files? Apparently there’s an award for that!
🚨 Final call for this science writing fellowship with The Open Notebook. You’ll get $4,000 and be expected to write five articles.
Finally, if you’re feeling ambitious, A14Media have an open call for projects which span both media and AI. There’s up to €50,000 per project up for grabs.
