Jobs and Opps at Greenpeace, Insider, The Post, BBC Newsround, and Many, Many More 🐚
Everything you need to apply for this week.
Perhaps like most cat owners, I spend a lot of my time with my cat. I coax him (mostly unsuccessfully) to come and sit with me, I ask him in earnest how his day has been when I return from an evening out, and I look on in awe as he contorts his body to clean every single millimetre of fur. How does he remember which bits he’s already cleaned!? I mean, sometimes, I forget to shower entirely. Perhaps most of all though, I wish I could understand exactly what’s going on in his brain as he skids across the floor pouncing on a pencil.
The first picture I have of Swirls is from 2019. It was just after we’d moved into our old house and he showed up on the lean-to in the garden, hanging around for scraps. To cut a long story short, we ended up taking him to a cat rescue after he strolled by with half his neck missing. It also turned out all his teeth were rotten. He spent six months recovering in their care before we formally adopted him. I often spend a lot of time thinking about what he could tell me if he could, and the life lessons he could share. How does he feel about how it all panned out?
But even though he’d never said a word to me, if you discount a few quiet meows, I still think he’s taught me a lot. As he clambers up onto the bed for a post-work cuddle, just as he does every single day, I remember how beneficial routine can be for all of us. When his lingering food anxieties from his time as a stray rear up, I think about how all our experiences shape us, how they always stay with us, even if they change along the way. Oh, and when he skids across the floor pouncing after a pencil? Sometimes we all need to take a bit of time out for something silly and fun.

Can You Help Us Keep Publishing In Turbulent Times?
It’s a tough time for the media industry and we’re no exception. Journo Resources truly is a tiny outfit — we have just one full-time member of staff, no offices, and a to-do list longer than Swirl’s tail. Despite this, we help more than 200,000 people every year, with free-to-access resources, one-to-one advice, and more. If you can, a small donation of just £4 a month makes a huge difference to keeping us stable and paying everyone who helps our mission fairly.
