Jobs and Opps at FullFact, The Evening Standard, City A.M and Many, Many More 🎄
Everything you need to apply for this week ✨
Hey there, Catharina with you today! The Met Office has warned of a cold snap over the next few days, with areas possibly plunging as low as -10 degrees Celsius. Hopefully, you’ve got your hot water bottles and draught excluders at the ready. It might be the result of being constantly wrapped in snuggly jumpers or because of too much hot chocolate, but the end of the year always gives me a warm and fuzzy urge to bond with people more.
This time last year, we were still dealing with legal limits on social contact, and our work had reflected the times: the 2021 edition of our magazine was themed around how to tackle working from home. By now, many may have grown used to this way of working — so it’s now up to us to reconnect with each other in meaningful ways after being segregated for so long.
Journalism is all about connecting with people and discovering their truths, but freelancing can be an isolating experience, made worse by the global pandemic. So, how do we as an industry find new ways of connecting? Well, you heard it here first: the Journo Resources Yearbook 2023 magazine will explore the motifs of community and belonging.
Featuring work from the JR Fellowship Class Of 2022 as well as other writers, you can expect insightful dives into improving the journalism industry for disabled audiences, the Muslim community, and neurodiverse journalists. We’ll also look at the stressors and mental health challenges of working in the newsroom and how to deal with it, ways to revolutionise the travel writing industry amidst environmental and pandemic concerns, as well as how to use our writing to help readers find a sense of belonging.
These are all topics that we think are vital in today’s journalism industry, and we’re so excited for you to read it all! If you haven’t yet, you can place a preorder for your copy of the Yearbook 2023 here. There will also be tons of useful features designed to propel your career in journalism and media to new heights in the year to come — not to mention, your support will help us fund our next round of fellowships with budding journalists. Our print magazine might also make a lovely Christmas present!
