Jobs and Opps at FE Week, Insider, STV, BBC and Many, Many More ✨
Everything you should apply for this week and beyond 🥂
Hello – it’s Hannah again! I hope your Tuesday is wonderful and that the sun is still shining wherever you are. I’m revelling in the post 8pm sunsets; the longer and lighter days are making me hopeful for the months ahead – despite the infuriating hay fever. The last time I appeared in your inbox, I wrote about how we owe it to ourselves to take the pressure off a bit sometimes. In an age of toxic productivity and constant social media highlights, it’s often hard to find balance and switch off. I’ve found this particularly hard since graduating, as I find myself alone far more frequently. Most of my friends are either still studying or have moved away, and my partner is also still at uni.
Don’t get me wrong, I like my own company. But sometimes I think it’s easier to endlessly scroll on socials when you don’t have distractions like late-night laundry trips and student kitchen debriefs. It can also be harder to find a work-life balance. So, recently, I decided to do something by myself and for myself: I joined my local running club. It was nerve-racking going alone, and I was dubious of the “all abilities welcome” – but I am *so* glad I did it! Everybody was so lovely and welcoming, and the next thing I knew, I was having a pint with my new friends, of all different ages, in the pub.
I’m not sure we talk about loneliness enough, especially in a post-pandemic world. But know that it’s okay to have bad days, and if you’re struggling to find balance, see what’s out there in terms of local clubs and groups – you might find something you really love.
