Jobs and Opps at Channel 4, Dazed Digital, ITV, Big Issue, and Many, Many More 📦
Everything you should apply for this week.
I can’t believe it’s the middle of February already. Seriously, where did the time go? I know January can (understandably) feel like a drag for many people. But for me, at least this year, time passed relatively quickly. Rather than diving straight in with some ambitious work goals and avoidance-based New Year’s resolutions, I wanted to take this January to focus on doing more of the things I enjoy, trying new things, and spending more time with the people I love.
I’ve always liked to have dates in my diary. Something to look forward to; confirmation that it won’t be a whole year before I see that person again. However, it’s something that has become increasingly difficult with time. A cliché, but life gets in the way. When people who were at one point all in one place move away, life can start to feel like more of a jigsaw.
For my latest piece on goal setting, I chatted to classically trained clown Em Stroud, who told me about her ‘Rainbow Diary’. There are seven categorised colours, including two — self-care and exercise — which are non-negotiable. The other five colours are things that fulfil her: work with businesses; comedy, writing, and podcasting; time with friends and family; fun and curiosity, and time with her little boy. Sometimes, it won’t be possible to fit in all seven colours, but it’s a good visualisation tool nonetheless.
So, with the help of some Google Forms and a few intense WhatsApp sessions, I’ve seen significantly more of my friends than I have in ages. We’ve done Parkrun away days, played crazy golf, been to the seaside, and drunk unholy amounts of hot chocolate. All the good stuff. I’ll set some more goals soon, but easing into the year has worked out well for me.
Oh, and I’m still learning to drive. But apart from the odd minor breakdown (no pun intended), I’m improving, which I’ve come to realise is what really matters. Please remind me of this when I’m next trying to reverse bay park in B&M’s car park without crying.
