Jobs at Opps at Manchester Evening News, EachOther, Aviva, Black Ballad And More 🧜
More than 50 opportunities you should be applying for this week 🙀
As a journalist, reporting across a wide range of topics kind of comes with the job. Especially when you’re working on a news desk, the story you start your day with is often very different to the one you end your day working on. And, chances are, you’ll often find yourself covering something you’ve had no experience reporting before.
However, even if something’s not your specialism, it’s still vital that you’re able to report on subjects both ethically and responsibly – especially if your reporting involves an underrepresented community. So, we’re delighted to launch something new this week which aims to give reporters the practical tools they need, quickly.
Our new How To Report… series will look at a whole range of areas, kicking off with our first event on how to report disability. These will be practical, useful sessions, run by journalists and others experts, giving you a foundation of knowledge in just an hour. We’ll also be putting together a series of online guides, covering everything from sex workers to poverty, so you’ll be able to have all the information you need quickly and concisely, whenever a story happens.
We can’t wait to start sharing the results of this series with you – and we can’t wait to see you there. We’d also love to hear about any topics you’d like us to cover – just drop us a reply to this email and we’ll make sure to add them to the list!
Very Exciting PS. We’ve joined forces with the wonderful people at Response Source, who will be one of our lead partners for the next 12 months. We’re so thrilled to be working with the people who make finding case studies easier, and you can see more about what we’ve got coming up here.
